One of the greatest traditions around for little guys is the infamous cake smash. While this usually makes a pretty big mess, it is well worth it. When this little one year old was ready to celebrate her birthday, she suddenly looked very interested in this beautiful and elegant simple wedding style cake. At first, I noticed that she wasn’t very sure of what to do with the cake on the antique looking pedestal. I loved the neutral colors that my clients chose. It created a calm and serene look around this beautiful baby.
Still working with the neutral colors, we placed the beautiful baby on a wooden stool. The flowing cloth draped over the stool added to the simple elegance that shines through in these pictures. Next, we moved to a softer look and feel with these pictures. I found that a darker backdrop and prop would contrast beautifully with the brighter skin tones. Last, but not least, we moved to a much brighter feel on top of a plush rug. With a pastel onesie sweater, the baby’s beautiful face shined through and was the focal point for many of these photos. I had the opportunity to capture some pretty amazing photos where you could see just how happy this little girl is. The smile on her face was probably my favorite part of the whole session.
