In this newborn session, I welcomed a new Mom and Dad with their adorable 6-week-old baby boy. This photo shoot ended up being a little different than my traditional newborn ones because this little man was a bit older. However, he was absolutely adorable and ready to be a star.
Initially, we started by taking some family photos. The baby boy was a little unsure about the camera at first, but after a loving embrace from his mom, he settled right in. Mom and Dad wore contrasting shirts in cream and blue, which added a nice color pop. I was able to mix in some black and white photos for an added contrast. We then moved on to photographs featuring mom dressed in a long cream dress holding her little man. She gazed so lovingly down on him. She looked like an angel holding such a precious gift. I loved the way the color in the Mother’s dress and baby’s blanket flowed together. Their dark hair and rosy skin was just stunning.
During the session, this handsome little man did fall asleep. That gave me the opportunity to grab a few of those treasured sleeping shots. We captured a few of him curled up on his belly. With the baby being a little bit older, he had such beautiful plump legs and arms. I just loved looking at his cheeks. We had a lot of fun working with different blankets and backgrounds. The brown blankets offered a remarkable contrast to his beautiful creamy skin. One of my favorite moments came when I was photographing him in a basket, and he briefly opened his eyes. With his finger next to his mouth and his little grin, he looked like he was contemplating the mischief he could cause in the future.
I had such a great time with this family creating lasting memories. Below are just a few of my favorite shots from this session. I can’t wait for them to return to their Washington D.C. photographer as this little man grows!
