Bringing home a new baby is such a joy in a young family’s life. The excitement that shines on the faces of new parents is a pleasure to witness. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with a family who had just welcomed their first baby, an adorable little boy.
I began this session by taking photos of the parents with their new little man. Mom wore a charming blue shirt that brought out the beautiful color in the baby’s skin. Dad dressed in a contrasting white shirt, and I photographed him as he gazed lovingly into his newborn’s sleeping face.
The photos of the baby featured both lighter and darker colors. We used a white blanket to bring out the softness and pinkness in his features. The little man had gorgeous brown hair, similar to the beautiful hair of his mother. The browns and grays in the background brought out the beautiful olive tones in his skin. He slept so peacefully on his stomach, and it gave me a chance to focus in on his cute little fingers. All of his features were so tiny and beautiful. The family also brought in an adorable matching pants-and-hat set for him to wear. He looked so sporty and cute, ready to tackle the world.
During this session, I had the opportunity to mix in some black and white photos. The contrast of the black and white brought out the dynamic design of the father’s tattoo and created a stunning shot. I loved how the black and white film also brought light to the faces of the mother and the baby, while letting the background fade away into the darkness.
The beauty and excitement of these photo sessions never fails to amaze me. I love to see the interactions between parents and their new babies as they adjust to the joys of parenthood. I can’t wait to watch as this little man’s finger and toes take him in the future.
