Playing with different textures can bring amazing results in newborn photography. Burlap, wood grain, and chunky yarn all provide a beautiful contrast to the softer and delicate features of a brand new baby. This really helps all of us understand how special the first week of a baby’s life really is for the entire family.
This gorgeous couple came prepared in neutral colored clothing so that the focus would remain on their new baby boy. The love they felt for one another and their son filled my studio with joy. These sessions are always a happy time as the parents learn to settle in to the new rhythms that babies bring with them.
The soft grey wrap and cap were perfect for showing off his creamy, newborn skin. When he was all folded up in it, I could really focus on his delicate features. Smooth, dark hair looks like little streams and tributaries that a parent could get lost in for hours, just thinking about the young man that this baby will become.
I especially enjoyed the photos of this sweet boy wrapped in a soft, greige blanket. The matching cap is secured with a sweet yarn bow that echoes the simplicity of life as a newborn. His little fingers peeking out beneath the chin remind us how delightful it is to be young and have a world of possibility waiting for us.
New moms may be tired as they adjust to night feedings and being on call 24 hours a day, but even in that, you can clearly see in this mother’s eyes that motherhood is a beautiful experience. I desire that all of the mothers I photograph see this beauty in themselves as well. It is a privilege to showcase this beauty and love to new moms as a newborn photographer.
