I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful little girl first as a newborn, again at six months, and here, for her first birthday cake smash photography session. After spending time with her, I was able to see that it was imperative I capture her sweet spirit and infectious smile.
Her mother wanted to make a special tribute to her French heritage so she elected to use macaroons, rather than a smash cake that we typically feature in one-year-old sessions. It was a huge success, I really enjoyed photographing this variation to the traditional cake smash.
We paired the dessert with a beautiful vintage dessert tray and goblet and allowed the little one to just have fun. I do everything I can to allow children to feel safe and secure in the new environment, but also make sure they realize that fun is encouraged. This helps capture their true personalities and ensure this special time in your child’s life will never be forgotten.
I also like to dress up the area with shabby chic banners and blankets to create a beautiful backdrop. These additions can be altered, if you prefer, and tailored to your preferences and your little one’s personality.
As for this particular sweetheart, we had a few costume changes. She had two dresses, a tulle skirt, and an adorable romper. She also brought a few birthday hats to commemorate the occasion.
Be sure to check out the details of this fun session. I wanted to make sure to capture every detail including her long eyelashes, her delicate curls, her chubby little fingers, and her toothless smile. I will make sure to do the same with your little one. After all, your little one is changing everyday. You want to make sure this special stage is documented.
